I enjoy any form of art that can successfully pull off melodrama, the odd song or film that allows its audience quick, if not cheap, access to emotion, allowing an easy wormhole toward plain beauty without the propensity to cringe. It’s like fast food that’s good for you.
Since I’m in Berlin, I wanted to choose something faintly electronic, (though not like, too, boom boom) for today’s track. It’s enjoyable to hear Connecticut born Caroline Polacheck’s ultrahigh, auto-tuned voice tumble down atop a frenetically ecstatic collection of synths and drums as if the voice itself is falling, slowly, painfully, maybe even enjoyably, down a flight of stairs, looking up and singing beautifully, slightly incoherently, toward the many heavens along the way. The Australian, ultra-popular Flume and his cynical sense of fun oddly brings it all together. Histrionics abound!
