Wires by Red Fang
The intention of this daily project is for the prose I write to light up a new feeling in the reader, the same way only something as visceral as a song could. That’s the attempt, that’s what I’m grasping for.
It’s curious, then, why I’d choose this song today, which doesn’t really illuminate much other than the glorious feeling to mosh, destroy, bang your head left, right, back, and forth. It’s more a song to let loose to than to feel—which I should tell myself from time to time is OK. Not everything must be felt so deeply, understood so clearly. Some things, of course, just are. And what they are is fun. Fun is a word that’s always gotten in my way, something I should probably learn to embrace.
I suppose it’s productive, essentially, to let go now and then, to not think nor feel, which will, undoubtedly, give way to something new, something profound, or maybe even nothing at all, which is fine, I tell myself, has to be fine, of course. In that sense, music like this is meditative, or at least when approached from the right perspective, it can be. Have I ruined it for you?
